Audit & patient satisfaction survey to investigate the effectiveness of 10 schedules telehealth clinics for Southern District patients waiting for a neurosurgery FSA. Neurosurgeon based in Christchurch with the Nurse Navigator team based at Southland Hospital with the patients. Survey of the patients indicated a very positive response to the telehealth clinic approach with a Nurse present at the appointment. Also, a positive response to reduced travel time and associated costs for patients. Audit also highlighted the reduction in travel time, reduced costs and the reduction on carbon dioxide produced with the reduction in travel to the clinic appointment. Overall, patients were very supportive of the telehealth clinic approach to a consultation with a Neurosurgeon.
